I don't know if there was a specific point but I have been able to have my treats and still feel like everything is under control. I do not obsess about it anymore and most importantly I do not have any guilty feelings. I have a treat when I have a craving but there is no mindless binging anymore because I know I am allowed to have it when I actually have a graving. Kasey's holistic approach to nutrition, health and wellness is contagious. She has taught me the ABCs of macronutrient planning, and is now encouraging me to take a deeper dive with my overall nutrition by slowly increasing my overall caloric intake to fuel my strength training workouts, in hopes to build muscle. Kasey has been my trusted nutrition advisor for over a year, and I am proud to say that my perception on nutrition, body image and overall lifestyle has greatly improved. I am not one to take big risks when it comes to my physical appearance.

I think the biggest difference though is that even if I hadn't seen any change at all I would still be happy with my progress and excited to keep going. I feel like I had a breakthrough in mindset the last few days - in the past I'd always use the insecurity/self hate as my motivator to make better choices/go to the gym. Since I've started coaching I've noticed a slow shift in wanting to do these things because they make me feel good - not as a punishment or as a way to try to change physically. My weight has been stable so seeing such big changes in the photos was shocking!

When I started with coaching, I was 4 months postpartum and ready to start the new chapter of getting back into fitness/health after recently having a baby! My goal was to love my new body, but also feel like myself again! I also wanted to continue to breastfeed and wanted to go about losing the baby weight but also not drop my milk supply. I was at a loss of how to start my fitness journey back.

My original reason for wanting to invest in coaching was simply to lose weight, but I've gotten so much more out of it. KJO's personalized nutrition plans along with her guidance, recipes, & meal ideas have been incredibly helpful. I have lost more than 25 pounds since I started with her, but what I believe is even more important is that my coach has helped me make positive changes about the way I think about eating in terms of portion sizes, "good" vs. "bad" foods, and not feeling like I have to be starve myself to lose weight.

My coach has helped me every step of the way and we have made some major progress...

Coaching has been a wild ride so far to say the least. My coach has been super supportive of a lot of crazy things that have been happening in my life. So far while working with KJO, I have had my husband deploy for a year, work 70+ hours/week for work, have some health issues, as well as go home to spend time with my family in NJ which required a home workout since gyms aren’t open there. My coach has helped me every step of the way and we have made some major progress. When I had an emotional slump around week 5, we hopped on a call, and she listened to me and helped me understand that I am actually doing really well. She gave me concrete steps I could take to feel less overwhelmed and more motivated. I’m so glad I’m working with her and that I get to be a part of this community!

Lastly, I have noticed some major mindset shifts. I learned that I don’t feel like I have the same cravings or get the same enjoyment out of unhealthy food or drinking alcohol that I used to. I am able to recognize the small changes in how I feel every day as well as look at how different my mindset is compared to last year. I feel that if I am having a bad day or a rough time, that I am able to bring myself out of it quicker than I have before.

KJO coaching is the first online one on one coaching experience I’ve had. The weekly check ins and the fact that things outside of the gym are taken into consideration was really important to me. In the past I had one trainer who was great at improving my training, but when I wanted to address my nutrition her only advice was “to keep doing what I was doing”. Which wasn’t helpful as I knew I wasn’t eating very healthily as my eating habits were very much affected by stress. They made no effort to dig deeper or to refer me to someone with more nutrition-related scope. In addition, I felt they very much trained me and possibly others in a way that made you dependent on them. So when I stopped training with them it took a while to develop the training habit on my own. KJO is absolutely the opposite of all of this... and I am SO thankful for that.

Before I started working with KJO, I worked out 5 times a week, but didn't pay any attention to what I was eating. After working out that often without any results, I knew I had to make some changes.

I started looking for a nutrition coach after I had been working out four to five times a week for a year and was not getting the results I wanted so I was losing motivation. A trainer at the gym told me about KJO and my life has changed ever since.

I was one of those people who thought eating “right” revolved around strict eating habits and starving yourself. KJO taught me that to lose weight I needed to eat more of the good stuff and less on the “bad”. The first couple of weeks were hard for me because I didn’t know I was not eating enough and so when she gave me macronutrients to follow I had a tough time eating it all. It felt like a lot of food!

My coach was there every step of the way even taking my phone call at night to help me grocery shop! Now that we have been on my journey for a couple of months I have lost eight pounds, gained muscle definition, and now have a healthier relationship with food. 

I am way happier now then I was in the last five years. KJO has taught me it is okay to have some of the unhealthier foods once in a while, in moderation, but the most important thing is that I now have the confidence to know I can make healthier choices and I’m recognizing my bad previous habits. I am stronger now then I have ever been and I have her and hard work to thank for that!

When I first started my fitness journey you would never catch me in a crop top.

I didn’t want people to see what my stomach looked like. After all my realizations with you and how my aesthetic goals have changed, I decided I wanted to wear crop tops and redo my fitness wardrobe to a more updated look. Wearing one today and I feel so comfortable in my skin now and every time I look in the mirror I think “damn I look good!” I’m so proud of how far I’ve come.

I haven’t worried about anything and feel like I finally found my sweet spot in my health journey. I found something that is sustainable for me and allows me to go through my journey based on how I feel and not how I look. My gym sessions are even getting better as I properly fuel myself and reap the benefits at the gym. I feel like KJO has completely shifted my mindset to overall health and not just an aesthetic goal. I feel like I can do this long term easily and continue to improve my health.

KJO has changed my life completely and showed me during this time that my goal doesn’t always have to be looked at and improved my mindset completely. I think that I will definitely be ready to spread my wings at the end of the month and put everything you taught me to the test on my own.

FOR SOMEONE WHO HAS ALWAYS HAD a restrictive diet and obsessed over the scale, LEARNING HOW SHIFT MY MINDSET was invaluable...

Through KJO I learned that I was not eating enough daily and she suggested that I try increasing my calories slowly. My coach advised that I spend more time weight training then continuing with my typical cardio heavy routine.

In just 2 months, my calorie intake went from around 1,200 to 1,700. I did not expect to see much of a change in my overall appearance; however, during this time clothes began to fit better and I became more motivated to stick with the program.

Prior to this, I have never worked with an online coach or any coach/personal trainer. I chose to work with KJO because the information they provide has always been very informative, backed by science, while also being very realistic about the hard work, effort, and patience needed to achieve your goals.

Working out consistently each week has been part of my lifestyle since I was in high school. I've been "in shape" and strong for a long time, but NEVER got the results I wanted to see in my physical body until I started working with KJO and paying attention to nutrition.

Tracking macros and flexible dieting works for me because I can still eat anything I want, I can still enjoy cooking, meals and dining out with friends, and treats without feeling guilty or like I'm ruining my progress. Though I HAVE learned how great I feel when eating healthy and do so most of the time. It takes ALOT of commitment and discipline, and it is HARD at the beginning. You have to have some trust and patience with the process, because the results don't happen overnight.

But the first time I saw how different my body looked after 7 months of work... that feeling was amazing. And at this stage, tracking is much easier, it's just a habit now and I know enough to make educated guesses when I need to.
